Provides substance use, mental health and other programs for youth and their families in the West Kootenay Boundary region.

The regional office is in Castlegar, with staff / offices in Grand Forks, Kaslo, Nakusp, Nelson, Salmo, Slocan Valley and Trail.

Taking a harm reduction approach, staff provide youth, generally 19 years of age or younger, with counselling, outreach and support offered individually and through group activities, as well as education programming and prevention strategies for youth, parents, teachers and community support persons.

Programs include:

  • Youth Concurrent Disorders Program providing support, counselling, education and referral for youth and young adults (to 24 years old) who have both substance use and mental health issues.
  • Regional Alcohol and Drug Day (RADD) Treatment a mobile youth drug and alcohol intensive program rotating throughout the region and providing 4 to 6 week-long day treatment groups.
  • Youth Prevention, Education and Community Development provides education programming and prevention strategies for youth, parents, teachers and community support programs.
  • Youth Drug and Alcohol Counselling Outreach and Support offers counselling services to individual youth and well as through group activities.
  • Youth Substance Abuse Management Program (YSAM) a Probation mandated program for youth with substance use issues impacting their behaviour.
  • Youth Outreach offers support for youth having difficulty staying in schools, finding accommodation or with family / community issues. Offers life skills acquisition and parent-teen mediation.
  • Family Program a peer support program for parents who are impacted by their youth's substance use.
  • FASD and Complex Disorder Family Program provides consultation to service providers as well as support, advocacy and referral for families who have children / youth diagnosed with FASD or Complex Disorders or are in the process of assessment for possible diagnosis.

Youth may self-refer or referral may be made by service providers or others.
