Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) - Salmo & Ymir
Free drop-in programs for parents and caregivers with children 0 to 6 years living in Salmo and Ymir.
Offers opportunities to build friendships with other adults and children in the community, in a safe, warm and accepting environment.
Provide opportunities for adults and children to bond while exploring the Family Centres, equipped with age appropriate games and toys, books and dress up clothes, craft materials and musical instruments.
Parent education workshops are also provided on scheduled Thursdays in Salmo.
Includes vsits with the Speech Pathologist and Dental Hygienist, Aboriginal Children’s Programming provided by COINS, the Salmo Children’s Librarian and Salmo Public Health Nurse.
Playgroups are as follows:
Salmo Family Groups: Family Resource Room, Salmo Valley Youth and Community Centre, 206 7th Street
- "Play with Me" Wednesdays & Thursdays 10 - 11:30am
Ymir Family Groups: Ymir Hall
- Morning Birds: Tuesday morniings 10 - 11:15am; ; Poppies: Tuesday afternoons 1 - 2:15
Programs run from September to June, following the school calendar, with breaks at Christmas and March
