Affordable Child Care Benefit
The Child Care Subsidy is a monthly payment from the BC government that helps eligible BC families to meet the costs of child care.
Can be used to help pay for the following types of care:
- Licensed or license-not-required family child care facilities;
- Licensed group child care centres, out-of-school programs, preschool programs;
- The child's own home.
A calculation that takes into account income and family size determines eligibility for either a full or partial subsidy.
A person may be eligible for a Child Care Subsidy if they:
- Are working and family income is below a certain level.
- Are seeking work.
- Are attending school or training for jobs programs.
- Have child care recommended by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
- Have a medical condition which interferes with their ability to care for their child.
