Canada Pension Plan - Disability Benefits
A monthly Disability pension can be paid to a disabled contributor who is under 65 and meets the requirements which include having a severe and prolonged physical or mental condition that prevents him / her from doing any substantially gainful work.
In addition the contributor must have made valid contributions to the CPP in 4 of the last 6 years or 3 of the last 6 years if the person has contributed for more than 25 years.
Children of a disabled contributor are entitled to a flat-rate child's benefit payable for dependent children - this means children under the age of 18 and students age 18-25 in full time attendance at school or university.
Application forms are available online or from a local Service Canada office.
Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Benefits also include a Retirement Pension and Survivor Benefits.
