BC Residential Substance Use Treatment Programs

Publicly funded in-patient programs which offer intensive counselling designed for clients ready to make significant changes to their substance use patterns in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment.

Publicly funded beds in treatment programs are accessed through a referral from such agencies as Mental Health & Substance Use services, the Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction or the First Nations Health Authority.

Short Term

In-patient programs which offer intensive counselling designed for clients ready to make significant changes to their substance use patterns in a safe, alcohol and drug free environment.

Treatment typically lasts from 35 to 90 days.

Long Term Residential Treatment programs in BC address co-occurring disorders, restructuring of entire life-style with the goal of eventual community re-integration.

Treatment length varies from 10 weeks to a year, depending on the facility.
