The PEACE Program for Children and Youth - Nelson
The PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment) Program offers counselling and art/play therapy for children and youth (age 4 to 18) who have witnessed / experienced family violence.
These services are also described in the Child and Youth Counselling Program .
Families can
request services directly, and referrals to the program also come from
school personnel, daycare workers, social workers, advocates, mental
health clinicians, victim's assistance workers, transition house
workers, parent support and family support workers.
Based on the
child's or youth's needs, they may participate in one-to-one counselling,
group work, or meet with the counsellor and a parent together. Art
therapy, play and sand tray therapy are available as needed.Counselling available invarious settings, including in school.
