Kootenay (Philips) Lifeline

Personal emergency response units are available to rent for those who live alone, have a chronic health problem or a physical disability.

When activated, the unit will automatically dial the Emergency response centre at Lifeline Canada

Person will be contacted at home. If they need help, specially chosen friends or relatives will be called to respond and/or ambulance services if needed.

Following a visit to a local hospital or emergency ward, staff may recommend the service for the patient, in which case, the first month's service and the installation cost will be paid by Interior Health.

A subsidy program is available from the Kootenay Boundary Health Services Area, Interior Health Authority for those who require the system and are living on a low income. Referrals may come from a Doctor, Home and Community Care staff or other health personnel. For subsidy program  contact a Home Health Nurse at 250-304-1249.
