Kootenay Seniors
Offers an online Directory and in-person services, information and resources for seniors, their families and service providers. Services include:
- Acts as a community coordinator for volunteer drivers and seniors.
- Free delivery of groceries to seniors and mobility-challenged persons. Will pickup pre-ordered and pre-paid groceries/pharmacy items. AND/OR go to a person’s home, pick up cash, or cheque, or grocery card, and bring it to the store to pay for pre-ordered items. Will NOT be providing shopping for people at this time.
- Provides bi-weekly or weekly telephone check-ins with seniors to ensure they are staying safe, staying home, and checking whether they need anything. Anyone who wants to be included for senior check ins is welcome to call or email.
- Provides resources and information during business hours by phone.
- Provides seniors with advocacy for health care, filling out forms online, banking, landlords and any other administration support they need.
In addition, Kootenay Seniors offers:
- The Seniors Home Support Program providing light housekeeping for Nelson area residents. Fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on income.
- The Kootenay Seniors Transportation Program providing information, options and support to help seniors meet their transportation needs.
NOTE: During the COVID-19 pandemic the drop-in is closed but phone or email assistance is available.
