Family Action Network (FAN)

Focuses on the importance of early childhood development in the Lower Columbia region (Trail & Area) by:

  • Supporting organizations that help families
  • Encouraging all community organizations and members to invest in families, and particularly young children
  • Championing or leading initiatives that go beyond the scope of a single organization; and helping to build on the good work already being done
  • Reaching out to and helping link families to each other, community resources, and our community at large

Current projects include

  • An online Hub / Website that provides extensive and helpful information to families of young children. Offers monthly calendars of activities for young children in the Lower Columbia region plus contact and other information about helpful services & resources.
  • "Ages and Stages"  raises awareness about the importance of regularly checking all children from birth to age five for developmental milestones. Offered in partnership with local early childhood professionals,  events provide a chance for local families to have a free, one hour appointment to check their child’s development. Families can ask questions during the appointment about topics like eating, sleeping, walking, behaviour and talking.
  • Encouraging the availability of "Easy Peezy (EZPZ)" comfort stations and family friendly washrooms in the region.
  • In conjunction with other groups, offers a variety of learning and networking events for families and service providers.
