ANKORS: AIDS Network Outreach & Support Society

Serves those living with and at the greatest risk of acquiring HIV / AIDS and/or Hepatitis B & C, who have difficulty obtaining services elsewhere, especially due to substance use, mental illness, sexual orientation, gender identity, race and ethnicity, and/or other social barriers.

Provides confidential Harm Reduction services throughout the West Kootenay Boundary region and East Kootenay, with offices offering drop-in spaces and other services in Nelson, Grand Forks and Cranbrook.

Services include:

Drug Checking Program in the Nelson office (Mon & Thurs) and on Tues & Wed in Castlegar, Trail & Grand Forks as well as at festivals. Contact: 236-972-7080;  drugcheckingankors@gmail.com

Mobile Outreach / Harm Reduction Suppliesa regional program distributes harm reduction supplies on a monthly basis to individuals and provides free supplies for pick-up at various locations.                              Contact: 259-777-0733; ankorsmobile@gmail.com       

Peer Health Navigators: offers support,incofrmation and problem solving with people who’ve been there - ie those with personal experience with substance use, addiction, HIV+, homelessness, poverty, and trauma.         Contact: 250-505-9690;  coordinator.redun@gmail.com

REDUN (Rural Empowered Drug Users Network): Peer support, education and advocacy groups  in Nelson, Trail and Grand Forks

Support & Outreach: outreach, support and advocacy for individuals (plus caregivers and families) living with HIV / AIDS, Hepatitis C. Includes: visiting individuals, crisis intervention, ongoing counseling, and advocacy to ensure that each positive person receives a high standard of care and support from health care providers and support services. Supervised Consumption site that provides clean harm reduction supplies, a sterile room and supervision for individuals to use their substance in.  Contact Nelson office for more information.

Hosts the TransConnect program which provides support and resources for Transgender and Gender Variant folks  as well as offering educational workshops and resources for service providers, educators, mental health workers, and police in the Kootenays.

Works with other agencies on the KB Adult Supportive Recovery Program in Nelson.
