Children's Occupational Therapy: Early Intervention Services - Nelson

The Occupational Therapy (OT) Program provides early intervention services for children 0 – 6 years of age where there are concerns regarding physical, sensory, behavioral and/or cognitive development.

Services are child focused and provided in the setting that best meets the child’s needs whether at home, in school, on the playground or in the clinic. The therapy program services children in Nelson, Salmo, Slocan City, Kaslo, Meadow Creek, Nakusp, New Denver and region.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy aims to improve the child’s functioning in the home, at school and in the community by focusing on his/her sensory and motor skills, emotional development, self-care abilities and play skills. It strengthen the abilities of children with special needs and enhances opportunities for them to participate in their community.

Referrals to this service can come from a doctor, public health nurse, teacher, or other community professionals or parents can contact directly with concerns about their child.

Note: Therapists' work includes outreach in the community, therefore they are not necessarily in the office during those hours.  Phone to make an appointment.
