Dental Care Assistance for Children - Trail Area

Dental Health Community Program staff will try to help low income children to obtain dental care both in terms of accessing limited funds and with information about  participating dentists.

The Early Childhood Dental Development Program, which includes Lift the Lip  (See brochure below) is offered at Health Centres for children aged 0 - 4  and includes cavity risk assessments, dental screening, oral health education, and fluoride varnish application. Call for an appointment.

For children up to age 19, some amount of assistance for dental care may come from the Healthy Kids Program

Low income families who need dental services can also contact the West Kootenay Teeth Clinic for assistance.

Please note that  as of May 2025 the new Canadian Dental Care Plan  can assist eligible Canadians who do not already have dental insurance to access lower cost dental care.
