Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) Program - West Kootenay

Serving Nelson and surrounding area extending to Kaslo and Meadow Creek, up the Slocan Valley to New Denver and Nakusp and southeast to Ymir and Salmo.

Offers information to parents about child care choices in those communities.

Provides information about government financial assistance (Affordable Child care Benefit) that is available to eligible families and assists with completing and faxing forms.

Offers workshops to parents and caregivers and participates in special events for children.

Supports care providers by providing information, resources and training, as well as informal networking opportunities and assists individuals interested in becoming a Registered Licensed Not Required (RLNR) caregiver.

Provides members with low-cost art and craft materials.

Provide parents and care providers with free access to resources and toys from the Lending Library.

Outreach consultant and a travelling van bring resources, equipment and toys to participating communities, including to the following satellite sites:

Nakusp: Early Learning Centre, 619A 4th St. NW: Alternate Thursdays: 12noon to 4pm

New Denver: Lucerne Elementary School Library: 604 7th Ave: Alternate Thursdays:12noon to 4pm
