BC Smoking Cessation Program

Helps people stop using tobacco by assisting them with the cost of quit-smoking aids.

Talk to a pharmacist or doctor to decide if quit-smoking medications are suitable.

The program offers two types of aids:

1. Prescription DrugsPrescription Drugs - PharmaCare will cover 12 weeks of one of the following:

  • bupropion (brand name Zyban®) or
  • varenicline (brand name Champix®)

Note: These require a prescription. The amount of coverage is based on income level and Pharmacare Plan.

2. Nicotine Replacement Therapy  - 12 weeks FREE Nicorette® gum, Nicoderm® patch, Nicorette® lozenges or Nicorette® inhaler . only one of the above maybe chosen. 

An individual can now sign up for the B.C. Smoking Cessation Program at a local community pharmacy.

Helpful 24/7 phone and online support / counselling is provides by the QuitNow program
