Freedom Quest Youth Services - Castlegar Regional Office

Provides substance use, mental health and other programs for youth and their families in the West Kootenay Boundary region.

The regional office is in Castlegar, with staff / offices in Grand Forks, Kaslo, Nakusp, Nelson, Salmo and Trail.

Taking a harm reduction approach, staff provide youth (generally 19 years of age or younger) with counselling, outreach and support offered individually and through group activities, as well as education programming and prevention strategies for youth, parents, teachers and community support persons.

Programs include:

  • Youth Concurrent Disorders Program providing support, counselling, education and referral for youth and young adults (to 24 years old) who have both substance use and mental health issues.
  • Regional Alcohol and Drug Day (RADD) Treatment a mobile youth drug and alcohol intensive program for youth.  Program rotates throughout the region and offers 4 to 6 week-long day treatment groups.
  • Project Connect supports youth who are (or may be) dealing with the pressures of living with mental health concerns and / or substance use problems and unhealed trauma by building connectedness and attachment, reclaiming and building important relationships through nature based activities (with youth and adult mentors)
  • Youth Prevention, Education and Community Development provides education programming and prevention strategies for youth, parents, teachers and community support programs.
  • Youth Drug and Alcohol Counselling Outreach and Support offers counselling services to individual youth and well as through group activities.

Youth may self-refer or referral may be made by service providers or others.
