Child and Youth Community Mental Health Counsellor - Nelson
Provides supports and therapeutic counselling to children/youth and parents relating to children experiencing mental health issues. Referrals accepted only from MCFD’s Child and Youth Mental Health services (250-354-6480).
Provides a safe, supported environment for children and youth to explore their feelings, behaviours, values and beliefs. Children and youth participate in and are actively involved in setting their own goals for treatment.
Provides support to parents/caregivers in an effort to promote a deeper understanding of the child/youth’s experience and to promote healthy lifestyle choices within the family.
Facilitates referrals for further assessments and treatment, if necessary, and provides support throughout this process.
