Support Services for Families with FASD
A community-based outreach service designed to build on strengths and reduce risk factors of a child or young person (age: 0 to 18) living with FASD or a similair neurodevelopmental condition probable or diagnosed.
Helps build the capacity of their families to provide ongoing nurturing care for their children.
Key workers operate in a guide role to provide families with a variety of services including:
- Assistance with IHCAN assessment recommendations
- In-home support services
- Education and consultation services
- Supporting educational planning and assistance accessing community resources
- Also offers a Parent Support component
Referrals need to come from parent/caregiver self-referrals, Interior Health service providers, others specializing in FASD assessments, MCFD Guardianship social workers (for a child in care) and/or other professionals including pediatricians and child psychiatrists, school district staff and parent / caregiver self-referrals.
