Adult Mental Health Services - Castlegar

Provides a range of services for adults with mental health concerns:

Intake and Urgent Response: Provides initial assessments and subsequent referrals for clients to Mental Health staff and / or to other appropriate community resources. 

Adult Community Support Services (ACSS): A multidisciplinary team provides psychiatric and rehabilitative services to adults who have serious and persistent mental illness and have significant functional impairments in daily activities. Includes consultation, case management, community outreach, early psychosis intervention and residential services. 

Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT): Provides psychiatric assessment, short term treatment and consultative services to adults with serous and acute mental health illnesses and/or problems. 

Group Therapy: Groups vary from centre to centre and may include: Core Skills, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Skills Training for Borderline Personality Disorder, Mindfulness and/or Meditation. 

Seniors Mental Health Program: A Geriatric Assessment Team (GAT) provides assessment and intervention for those who have a functional and/or cognitive impairment due to age related decline and require and inter-disciplinary team approach to treatment.

Additional services include the Aboriginal Patient Navigator and the West Kootenay Eating Disorder Clinic.  As well, the Mental Health Resources webpage has links to useful information from the Mental Health Survival Kit.

Individuals may self-refer or referral may be made by a family member, physician or other helping professional.
