Volunteer Driver Program - West Kootenay

Provides a daytime, Monday to Friday, volunteer transportation service for citizens of  Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, and surrounding areas who, for very specific reasons, are unable to access public or private transportation to attend medical appointments or visits to care centers.

This service is provided only on a referral basis. Referrals must be received at least 5 days before the first trip is needed. Referrals need to come from various IHA services, Hospice societies, Community services providers and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Volunteer drivers are reimbursed at a fixed rate to cover gas and other travel costs.
